We import cherry-picked Iberian horses to the UK to bring on and compete. We value good temperament, obedience and manners highly, alongside smooth, Hispanic paces, good training and uphill movement.
We also occasionally source purebred Friesians, selected for their superb temperaments, floating paces.
At Dovecote Stables, we aim to acclimatise all our imported horses before selling on. This involves getting them accustomed to a British stableyard routine, having feet and teeth checked and treated if needed, hacking them alone and in company, turning out all horses including stallions (in a round pen initially), competing BD and fully preparing them for private owners.
