Dovecote Stables caters for individuals and small groups wishing to improve their riding technique with the help of true, high-quality schoolmasters . Our Andalusians and our Friesians are carefully sourced from Spain and Holland for their temperaments, rideability and talent. From a perfect beginner's horse to a piaffing showman, we can cater to all standards of rider, with horses to inspire confidence, fun and rapid improvement. Whether you wish to improve your general technique or master certain movements, are coming back to riding from a break, want to perfect that sitting trot or canter position on the lunge, or just always wanted to ride a highly trained Spanish schoolmaster, please call or email discuss your requirements.

Coach and intructor, Sam Twyman has over twenty years teaching and competition experience. His approach combines the best classical riding principles with modern techniques in body alignment and core stability gained from working alongside ground-breaking practitioners like Mary Wanless. His primary aim with all clients, novice to advanced, is to instill the confidence and skill to ride a horse in true self carriage through all paces and movements, making schooling and training effortless fun and providing the perfect foundation for any discipline.

CLINICS:

We have run several 'tester' clinics in 2009 to perfect the format for regular, short clinics for up to four clients – 2-day (weekend) and 4-day (week) as well as ‘tailor-made’ flatwork lessons.

With our help, you can really advance your skills on one of our schoolmasters, or on your own horse:

• Establishing true self-carriage; the correct outline and contact
• Riding consistently on the bit and in front of the leg
• Perfecting transitions, lateral work and changes
• Trying out moves like piaffe and passage
• Achieving the classical seat; body alignment and perfect balance

..all captured on video and stills to study later in an informal workshop setting, and/or to take home and admire on the mantle-piece!

Accommodation will be available locally at one of the many great B&B and pubs in the area, and we will endeavour to get the best price possible for our clients. We look forward to putting much more information on the website once regular clinics are available.
